Very beautiful Cantonese style restaurant in Bellaire. I will write that the menu and the service is 5 out of 5. The three star is because despite presentation the taste is not as good as some of the other Chinese restaurant around the area. I had the Mapo tofu with noodles and while I like that everything was fresh- the flavor was lacking. It had more of a sweet taste and not as spicy which was good since I had my baby with me who enjoyed it. They do have chili on the side but I just felt like something was missing (maybe the spice level).
Overall, despite my rating I would still recommend this restaurant. Especially if you are not so familiar with Chinese food this would be a good place to start. The menu is big too so there are plenty of dishes to try.

Mein is a solid Cantonese family style restaurant with a myriad of dishes on the menu! We had soup, Chinese broccoli, a pork pancake, squid, mapo tofu, and toast. All of the food was delicious! We had a large party here and they took good care of us!

Service was alright. Food, amazing. We ordered so many things to share, not disappointed with any of them. As a vegetarian, I appreciated the green V symbol- the waitress told us that it meant no oyster sauce, etc was in the food. Portion sizes are large, good value for the food. Will def be going back.

This is a good restaurant to try if you want chinese food. The red oil dumplings were fantastic!! They were probably my favorite dish of the night. Very crispy and flavorful. The charsiu was a bit disappointing because it was not really chewy. I also prefer mine not to be cold. Otherwise, the food was good.

Delicious food! We had the shaking chicken which my 7 year old boy just loved. We also got the beef scallion dish which my other boys loved. We also got the special lobster which was a lot of work but there were a few tasty bites in there. I would not order that again just because it was too much work to crack the lobster parts and for the price I don’t think it was worth it. Chicken fried rice was delicious as well. The lava toast was interesting. Very sweet.

Discovered this restaurant last year and now I eat here pretty much every time I visit Houston. The menu is packed with so many choices, and they also have rotating special dishes. Everything I’ve had here is so good. Service is always excellent as well. The decor and murals are cool, following an old school/vintage aesthetic.

I see why Mein is hype right now. The food is so dang good! I came here for a family birthday dinner and everyone loved it. The best dishes were definitely the char siu and tofu! I normally hate mushrooms and the tofu dish had mushrooms, but I LOVED it on that dish!

The first time I went to Mein I ate noodles and my friend the fried fish. After eating some of her fried fish, I decided to get the Sichuan fish. It was delicious. My friend got the pineapple shrimp and egg rolls.
I'm definitely going back again. The menu is extensive but I'm going back for the fish. It is Tilapia so if you don't eat it then chose something else. The atmosphere is beautiful and the service was good. They have a small bar with sake, beer, and wine.

Came to Mein as wanted some Cantonese Chinese food while visiting Houston. Stopped by on an early Saturday evening and luckily it was only about 50% full around 6:00p. Service was extremely fast and efficient from the time walked in the door, during the meal, and as they cleaned each table. Everything looked so good on the menu, but settled on the Red Oil Dumplings for an appetizer, followed by the HK Wonton Noodle Soup, and the Crispy Egg Noodle. Appetizer came out within 5 minutes and the meals within 10 minutes. Although the food came out right away, there was no doubt this was freshly made to order.
I can't even begin to pick which of the dishes were my favorite as all were amazingly good. All were equally as good, fresh, flavorful, and authentic. I only wish I had a larger party so I could try more dishes. This is definitely on my list when I return back to Houston. It was also a favorite to many others as by the time I left around 7:00p, there were about 20 people waiting outside.

Food is good. Got the red chili dumplings, fried flat noodles, XO noodles and the salt toasted squid. Salt toasted squid was kind of bland as you got to the bottom and the crunch felt like they had left it sitting for too long before someone got ahold of it. Service is good but could be better. I understand during these times places are understaffed and everything has an extra cost but I’m not paying $5 for extra sauce on the side.. unless that $5 sauce can supplement a whole new bowl of noodles that would be ok but not for just a little extra sauce on the side. Overall experience was good. Cantonese cuisine really hits home and Meins has made it to one of my top favorites.
