Place was a huge letdown, and way overpriced. Every plate we ordered was mediocre at best. I ordered the shrimp and grits, which was decent, but it comes with a piece of jalapeno cornbread. Normally you would expect a big square cake of cornbread, right? Nope. They give you the tiniest little sliver of cornbread I've ever seen in my life. It was the size of a baby carrot. Who created that and thought it was a good idea??! No Texan in their right mind would look at a piece of cornbread like that and think this is how it should be.
Service wasn't that great, waitress took forever to bring us anything, kept forgetting things, despite the restaurant not having that many people in it at all.
Definitely not a place I'd go back to. Not even CLOSE to being worth a $400 tab for 8 people, about $50/person. I don't mind paying that when the food and service are good, but this place doesn't provide that.

Popped in here to visit the rooftop bar for a few drinks and some music with a view. Rooftop was NOT our scene. Came down to the ground floor which was much more our scene. Staff was pleasant and knowledgeable. Loved the bartenders aprons. It was a nice professional touch. If we're back in Houston again we will stop in again.

Great view, great drinks. I want to rate higher but the covered area is so small that you'll be in the fire of the sun for hours if you come in the afternoon. Probably not bad later in the evening once the sun is down.

Danielle was an SENSATIONAL SERVER! I didn’t have the best time in Houston’s customer service, however this restaurant gave me some hope to eventually try Houston again. We will definitely be going back to eat there 10/10.

Great place to go for brunch on Sunday's. They have a dj downstairs until 3, then rooftop salsa sunday at Z on 23. The food is fantastic and the artwork is fabulous!

There were many problems with our visit. There cocktails were not available. The burger that I wanted wasn’t available. I chose a salad but that wasn’t available either. We asked the waitress about what wine we should get. She came back with a glass but had to go back to ask what wine it was. The wine also had a fruit fly in it. The food took a long time to come out. When we went up to the front to ask about it, the food came out right away leaving us to believe it was ready the whole time but just wasn’t brought to us. It gets 1 point for the atmosphere.

I had the pleasure to live paint at a private event held there. Big parking lot directly across the street. Plus for me, I’m big on parking in HTX. The staff was amazing. Small hiccup with my food as something I ordered had runny eggs but I was able to send right back and get new plate. I’m an artist and enjoyed the pieces displayed inside.

Our server Andrea was amazing. The kitchen was a little backed up but Andrea made sure to keep us updated and the drinks flowing while we waited. Our food was flavorful and delicious. We will definitely be back !

So I am visiting Houston Texas for the first time and now recognizing how friendly the people are. We dined at Zutro and was greeted by Manager Toby who was so accommodating and genuinely hospitable. Our server Cordell complimented the greeting we got and was patient and super friendly with us. The food selections were tempting and the food itself was phenomenal in taste, portion size and in presentation. I had the French toast; just delish. My friends had the omelette and Lox… they raved about it too. The Watermelon drink hit nice. Furthermore, the ambiance super chill and clean. I will be back and I will recommend this spot to friends. Thank you Houston.

TL;DR Poor service and worse food. Skip the restaurant, check out the view on the 23rd and I recommend you find somewhere else to spend your evening. We came in with 9 people for dinner and had a pretty bad experience. The dining room was all but empty, the bar had a couple of people and there was a bartender and server for the hand full of customers. We didnt have a reservation but our group was very relaxed and just looking for a meal to celebrate a birthday. Service started out ok but the whole experience went down hill pretty quickly. Out of the 9 of us I was the only one who ordered an appetizer and I ordered 1 cocktail. The appetizer tostadas and cocktail took way too long to come out though the app was tasty. Everyone else had drinks from the bar on the 23rd floor they kept for dinner. We ordered food together and kept it simple with a couple cheese burgers, a couple chicken stews, a steak, a chicken sandwich, ceviche and the red snapper. No one modified their orders, everything was ordered as it is on the menu. This is where the experience took a nose dive. The food took entirely too long to come out and we were not offered drinks or anything while we waited. In fact we had to ask at least twice just to get water refilled. At no point during the service did another table come in so there was no obvious reason for the delay. The server was nice and had a great attitude but just seemed unable to keep up with the table even though we ordered one entree each and no drinks except for mine. When the food finally did come out, every single dish was cold. All 6.5 of them were cold. Yes we ordered 9 entrees and got 6.5 of them and they were cold. 6.5 because one entree came out missing half of the items on the menu which were later brought out. The red snapper and chicken sandwich didn't come out and had to be re-ordered. We alerted the server to our missing plates and watched him walk over and enter them into the computer. The missing plates didn't come out until almost everyone finished their entrees and when it did finally come out the chicken sandwich and fries were cold. I've spent my fair share of years in the service industry and know what its liked to get swamped with a sudden rush. This is not what happened. A 9 top without a reservation is not ideal but when its the only table in the restaurant it should be more than manageable. The service and kitchen were way off and sadly I do not plan on going back in the future. That was a lot of money spent for an abysmal experience.
