Server was great. Food was okay. Drinks are served in large to go styrofoam cups. I ordered the broiled catfish and husband the chicken fried steak. I wish I took pictures of the plates before we ate. The chicken fried steak was small it looks nothing like in the commercial we see on tv. My husband said it was mostly breading. The mash potatoes were good though. The broiled catfish had a good taste to it but i didnt think the amount of butter they add is necessary. I thought the steamed broccoli was actually the tastiest item on my plate. I also ordered the chocolate cake which I took home and realized when I opened the container it's more of a brownie. It was cut so thin I wouldn't pay $4.95 for that again. The slice was placed on a salad/dessert plate when I took the picture.

The people are very friendly here. It did seem to take a while for us to get our food and all. The drinks were HUGE ( I forgot to take a picture) they do offer a free first refill but if I'm being honest I think the one should be enough. Either way the food was good. They did put a lot of butter on the salmon though. It is really cold in the diner but they do have a little of everything.

FIRST TIME HERE!
We went during lunch rush time and there was a line. We waited about 10 mins to be seated but the waitress got our drinks and came right back to take our order. The food took about another 7-10 mins and was WORTH THE WAIT!! I had the Ham and Swiss Sandwhich and he had The Hamburger Streak plate. She came back to check on us and I ordered Charlie's Old Fashioned Hamburger to go and it came out when we were ready to pay. Sooo savory and filling. Great Job to the waitress and the cooks! Great Job Team all the way around. The restaurant was clean, the service was superior, food was great!

I had a great experience today! There was a wait which could mean one of two things- either terrible service or just so busy from so many people showing up, it was the second of course. I had a great waitress and she was great with my kids. Happy, happy experience!

It was on a Saturday, around 8:00 pm, we were glad that they have plenty of parking spaces and there wasn't a waiting list.
This was our first visit to Good Time Charlie's, we went to try the Chicken Fried Steak. It was very good, especially with the gravy on top, the mash potatoes and green beans were also good.
We enjoyed our meals and the service was great. We recommend going to Good Time Charlie's.

Are you looking for a great rustic atmosphere? Better than average food? For a reasonable price Good Time Charlies is the place to be!!! The best onion rings, homemade!!! Ordered the 10oz burger medium well was a little dry and they forgot to put cheese on it. But were willing to bring me a slice. They serve the tea, soda, and water in foam cups fyi. Overall a great place to take the family for good food!!!

Short wait on a busy Friday afternoon, but I was seated quickly and waitress appeared ready to take drink orders shortly after. Had to try the chicken fried steak and what can I say, it was better than good, but not great. While the gravy was probably the best (and closest to the yellow gravy I've been seeking) I've had in years, the breading was falling off the steak and was a little on the greasy side. Would've liked a tighter breading. I thought maybe it was gravy on top, but my mom was having bigger issues with crust separation than I was, even with gravy on the side. Steak was tender and good thickness along w flavor! Green beans were delicious and potatoes just a'ight.. need to come back with bigger appetite and more people to tackle the monstrous order of onion rings I saw ordered at other tables. So many other items I'd like to try! Will definitely be back.

Came here with family who are not vegan, I am so I had a hard time finding things to eat. There are a few options. I kind of expected a vegan burger option since they have so many burgers but there weren't any. The food was good so not a total loss. Just wish they offered more than just fries and the fried veggies appetizer.

Where the heck did all these 5 ⭐️ reviews come from. My expectations where above average. The wait staff aren’t really friendly, the 16 oz beer is only 3.25 on draft but it did taste flat, we ordered onion rings they were flavorless, i ordered fish&shrimp $19, Fries were like McDonald’s, cheap tasting. Fish was breaded right, the shrimp tasted old, son got nachos which were 2 tostadas with beans and cheese on top$10, terrible!!, my daughter got steak and queso she asked for it to be cooked well it was raw. It was just all around over rated. The food isn’t even good!!

This is a very charming spot. Plenty of locals, so if you're a tourist and want to see San Antonio at it's truest nature, this is a great place to visit. The menu has a variety of options. I picked fish. They cooked it well; it tasted great. I would've like more vegetable options, but, on that day, the meal was sufficient for me. The red blend wine is tasty, good quality, and affordable. It's a dry one, yet very enjoyable. I'll go back for sure after a round of golf ⛳❣️????
