Been driving by this place for years and finally stopped by. Sad to say me and my family were disappointed. Our food came out over an hour after we got there, our waitress was really rude, never introduced herself and was rushing us. food was flavorless and the plates just looked sad. I had high hopes and they were shattered. I’m not a picky eater by any means but this place just wasn’t worth it. My mom (it was her birthday) ordered a patty melt steak and it was literally a squished hamburger patty with one slice of cheese on top. We will not be back.

As good as it was 40 years ago! In these days, it’s wonderful to find this iconic restaurant is as great as the first time I went there in 1980 and the last time until today, which was 1985. Introduced a friend to it this morning. Steak still great, great prices and awesome service. What I like best is their steak tastes like steak—BEEF—-not a bunch of seasonings. Tasty salad, too. Can’t wait for our next visit.

Steak was super tough..paid $17.99 for this plate..when I couldn't eat it...then was charged almost $8.00 for just the salad..never again!!

Big portions of great food. I loved the decor inside. Definitely a hidden gem--although it is a neighborhood staple. Glad they have gish, shrimp, chicken fried steak and hamburger steak. Sides we tried were fried okra, fries, loaded potato and potato soup.

I haven't been to Hungry Farmer in over 2 decade. I decided on a little nostalgia and dropped in. It was just as I remembered, comfortable and just like back home. I felt like having a delious steak and was not disappointed. Memories flooded back. This place is more than just good food to me, it's a time machine of great memories.

Nice cozy old fashion spot. It is actually 2 diff restaurants in one building. A Burger joint on one side and a steak house on the other. We decided to try the burger. It was excellent. Way bigger then I expected. It tasted great was definitely home made. Lady up front was very nice. Very friendly and helpful. Made sure our food was correct.

First visit with my family for Mother's Day. Felt very rushed. Before our party of 4 sat down, salad was on the table. Looked like bagged salad from HEB. My mom's steak was dry and chewy. I ordered a second one which was not much better. Of course, we were charged for both. Oh, extra charge for sour cream or cheese. Out of bacon bits and onion rings. Did I mention the waitress was worse than the service? Forget about refills. Never again!

Great experience, welcoming friendly staff. Old school feel to it. Great steak and their baked potatoes are to die for. I'll always come back, customer for life
